Make-Up Air Units — DFW & North Dallas Commercial Kitchens
Every commercial kitchen exhausting air through a hood must replace that air — or the building goes negative-pressure, and everything breaks: doors that won’t seal, smoke that won’t leave, pilot lights that go out, and comfort systems fighting the pressure differential. TechBridge Pacific HVAC corp installs, repairs, and balances make-up air units for DFW restaurants and commercial kitchens. Commercial-only.
What a Make-Up Air Unit Does
A make-up air unit (MAU) supplies conditioned or tempered outdoor air to replace the air exhausted by the kitchen hood. Properly sized and balanced, it keeps the kitchen at neutral pressure — smoke stays in the hood, doors seal, dining-room comfort holds, and energy costs stay reasonable.
Make-Up Air Services We Provide
- New MAU installation — sized to match your hood exhaust volume and kitchen layout.
- MAU repair — burner faults, fan failure, damper issues, controls.
- System balancing — exhaust and supply must be balanced together; we measure and adjust both.
- Existing system assessment — diagnosing negative-pressure symptoms and correcting them.
- Replacement — end-of-life units replaced with properly sized equipment.
Signs Your Make-Up Air Is Wrong
- Kitchen doors hard to open or slammed shut by pressure.
- Smoke or cooking odors escaping the hood into the dining room.
- Pilot lights blowing out on gas equipment.
- Cold drafts at the front door in winter.
- Comfort complaints in the dining room despite working RTU.
Why Commercial-Only Matters
Make-up air is a commercial kitchen system — residential HVAC contractors don’t typically size or balance these. Our Texas Class A license (TACLA 00151786 R) and restaurant HVAC specialization mean we understand the whole ventilation system: hood, MAU, and RTU as a balanced package. 5.0★ on Google.
