When a walk-in climbs past 41Β°F or an ice machine stops dropping ice, you are not dealing with a comfort problem. You are dealing with inventory, health-code exposure, and a kitchen that cannot run. TechBridge Pacific HVAC Corp is a commercial-only contractor based in Melissa, TX. We diagnose and repair walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-in units, ice machines, display cases, and multi-compressor rack systems for restaurants, grocers, convenience stores, and food distributors across Collin County and North Dallas.
We are a two-technician company by design. The person who answers the phone is the person who shows up with gauges, a recovery machine, and a megohmmeter. There is no dispatcher reading a script and no sales quota attached to your repair.

Equipment We Service
Walk-in coolers and freezers
Remote and self-contained condensing units, evaporator coils, electric and hot-gas defrost, door gaskets and closers, low-ambient controls, and box temperature alarms. See our dedicated walk-in cooler repair page for a deeper look at how we diagnose a box that will not hold temperature.
We also service commercial ice machines (Manitowoc, Hoshizaki, Scotsman) and reach-in coolers and freezers (True, Beverage-Air, Turbo Air).
Reach-in coolers and freezers
True, Beverage-Air, Turbo Air, Traulsen, Delfield, and similar self-contained units. Common failures are dirty condensers, failed condenser fan motors, iced evaporators from a bad defrost timer or heater, and compressors that have been running against a restriction for months.
Commercial ice machines
Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, Scotsman, Ice-O-Matic. We troubleshoot harvest cycle faults, low ice production, water-side scale, thermistor and float-switch problems, and refrigeration-side issues on both air-cooled and remote-condenser machines.
Display cases and merchandisers
Open-front multi-decks, deli and bakery cases, and glass-door merchandisers in grocery, convenience, and pharmacy settings. Product-temperature problems in open cases are often airflow and defrost problems, not refrigerant problems. We check the air curtain, honeycomb, evaporator fans, and drain before touching the charge.
Parallel rack systems
Multi-compressor racks serving grocery and distribution facilities: compressor staging, oil management, suction and discharge pressure controls, EPR and solenoid valves, and circuit-by-circuit temperature verification.
How We Diagnose Refrigeration Problems
Adding refrigerant is not a diagnosis. Almost every refrigeration call we take starts the same way, regardless of equipment type:
- Verify the complaint. Box temperature, product temperature, and run history from the controller or the manager’s log.
- Measure the system, not just the pressures. Superheat at the evaporator outlet, subcooling at the condenser outlet, and the temperature difference across both coils. Those four numbers tell us whether the problem is charge, airflow, a metering device, or a compressor before we open a single panel.
- Check the metering device. A hunting TXV, a stuck EEV, or a partially plugged cap tube looks like a low charge on the gauges. Chasing it with refrigerant makes the compressor the next casualty.
- Test the compressor electrically. Amp draw against nameplate, winding resistance, and a megohm test to ground. A compressor that reads 0.5 megohms to ground will not survive the summer, and it is better to know that now.
- Find the leak, then fix the leak. Electronic detection and bubble confirmation. When a repair requires opening the system, we recover the refrigerant, pull a proper vacuum, and weigh the charge back in by the nameplate or the calculated line-set correction. EPA 608 certified.
- Verify defrost. Timer or controller settings, termination thermostat, heater resistance, and drain-line heat on freezers.
You get a written summary of what we measured, what failed, and what it will cost to fix. If the box is at the end of its life, we will tell you that too, and explain why.
Refrigerants We Work With
R-404A, R-448A and R-449A (the common retrofit blends), R-134a, R-22 on legacy equipment, and R-290 on newer self-contained units. We recover on every open-system repair and handle refrigerant according to EPA Section 608. If you are running an R-404A system and thinking about a retrofit, we can walk you through what changes (TXV settings, oil, pressure controls) and what does not.
Emergency Refrigeration Service
A walk-in that loses cooling on a Friday evening does not wait until Monday. We offer after-hours service for our commercial refrigeration customers. After-hours diagnostic and labor rates are published on our pricing page, so there is no surprise on the invoice.
While you are waiting for us: keep the door closed, move high-value product to a working unit if one is available, and note the box temperature and the time. That log matters for your health inspection and for our diagnosis.
Preventive Maintenance for Refrigeration
Most refrigeration failures we see in July were visible in March. Dirty condensers push head pressure up, amp draw up, and compressor life down. Worn gaskets add hours of runtime a day. A quarterly refrigeration PM includes:
- Condenser coil cleaning and fan motor check
- Evaporator coil inspection and defrost verification
- Door gasket, hinge, and closer inspection
- Compressor amp draw and megohm trend
- Superheat and subcooling log for each circuit
- Drain line and pan heater check
- Controller setpoint and alarm review
Refrigeration equipment can be added to any of our commercial plans. Details and pricing are on the maintenance agreements page.
Who We Are
TechBridge Pacific HVAC Corp holds Texas license TDLR TACLA 00151786R. Our technicians carry EPA 608 certification and factory training from LG and Daikin. We work exclusively on commercial equipment. That focus is why we carry refrigeration-specific tooling on the truck and why we are comfortable on a rack system at 6 a.m. See our certifications.
We also handle the rest of the building: rooftop units, kitchen exhaust and make-up air, and complete restaurant HVAC packages.
Service Area
McKinney, Allen, Melissa, Anna, Prosper, Celina, Frisco, Plano, Richardson, and Dallas. If you are just outside that list, call and ask.
Frequently Asked Questions
How fast can you get to a walk-in that has stopped cooling?
We prioritize refrigeration failures over comfort cooling calls because product is at risk. In most cases we can be on site the same day. Call rather than email for emergencies.
What does a diagnostic visit cost?
Our commercial diagnostic fee and hourly labor rate are published on the pricing page. Maintenance agreement customers pay no diagnostic fee.
Can you just add refrigerant to get me through the weekend?
We can, but we will tell you honestly what that means. A system that needs refrigerant has a leak. Topping off a small leak on a Friday to protect product is reasonable; topping off the same system every month is how compressors die. We will find the leak and quote the real fix.
Do you work on ice machines, or only coolers?
Both. Ice machines are a large part of our refrigeration work, including Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, and Scotsman units. Many ice machine complaints are water-side (scale, float, inlet valve) rather than refrigeration-side, and we check both.
My reach-in runs constantly but the temperature is fine. Is that a problem?
Usually, yes. Constant run time on a unit that is holding temperature typically means a dirty condenser, a weak door gasket, or a slightly low charge. It is costing you electricity now and a compressor later.
Do you install new refrigeration equipment?
Yes: walk-in condensing unit and evaporator replacements, reach-in and ice machine replacements, and new box installations coordinated with your box supplier.
Are you EPA certified to handle refrigerant?
Yes. EPA Section 608 certification is required to purchase and handle refrigerant, and we recover on every open-system repair.
Do you offer a maintenance plan for refrigeration?
Yes. Refrigeration equipment can be covered under our commercial maintenance agreements, either on its own or alongside your rooftop units.
